Far Cry Instincts Predator Features for Xbox 360

On: Xbox 360

Welcome to the Rumour mill, VideoGamer.com's run-down of the big rumours currently doing the rounds in the video game industry. Every week we'll hunt down the juiciest stories and give our opinion on how legit they are. So, whether you want the ridiculous or the plausible, read on.

Next Need For Speed returns to arcade style

The Rumour: With Need for Speed ProStreet disappointing many fans of the series, EA will take the series back to the Most Wanted/Carbon style next year.

Verdict: Need for Speed ProStreet hasn't been the runaway No.1 many people predicted, and this is partly down to the series' new identity as a sim racer. It's far from Forza, but nothing like the NFS games we've been enjoying over the past few years. Fans needn't worry as next year's game will be back on form, with EA alternating between sim and arcade over the coming years.

Plausibility rating: 4/5

Bizarre Creations making James Bond game

The Rumour: Apparently Activision has developers working on two James Bond games, with one coming from Treyarch (developers of Call of Duty 3) and the other coming from Bizarre Creations (developer of PGR and forthcoming shooter The Club).

Verdict: Anything is possible. Bizarre is said to be working on a racing title and an action title based on an existing IP, so a Bond game would certainly fit. We haven't heard anything concrete on this though, so for now we're not 100% convinced it's happening.

Plausibility rating: 2/5

Super Mario Galaxy on DS

The Rumour: A video of Super Mario Galaxy on DS has been getting Nintendo fans a little hot under the collar. What appears to be video footage of Mario and Luigi running around in familiar levels from the Wii game can be seen on popular video-based gaming website Gametrailers. Surely this means the popular Wii game is coming to DS, doesn't it?

Verdict: As much as we'd love this one to be true, it's already been labelled as a clever fake by the people that know these things. Another true Mario game could find its way to the DS in the future, but it won't be Mario Galaxy.

Plausibility rating: 1/5

Star Ocean 4 goes multi-platform

The Rumour: Despite a number of games from Square Enix appearing on the Xbox 360, the majority of its recent major titles have been on or announced for Nintendo and Sony platforms. Reports suggest that Star Ocean 4 from tri-Ace and Square Enix will be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360.

Verdict: It's entirely possible. Square Enix no doubt wants to recoup the costs of next-gen development as much as every other publisher, and given that the PS3 hasn't dominated the Xbox 360 as many predicted it would, it makes perfect sense to adopt a multi-platform development strategy.

Plausibility rating: 3/5

That's all until next week, but be sure to let us know if you've heard a juicy rumour.
