Deadline Games, the Denmark-based independent developer most famous for Total Overdose and Chili Con Carnage, has announced development of a new title for next-gen platforms.

Faith and a .45 tells the story of Luke and Ruby, outlaw lovers battling an enemy force led by a corrupt oilman who wants their blood. The game is set during the Great Depression and is described as a "road journey with guns, a dark army of steel-plated vehicles and armour-clad pyromaniacs".

We're also told there'll be a heavy focus on the characters, with cooperative play - presumably Luke and Ruby working together to evade the evil oil tycoon.

"Since we at Deadline have our roots in movie production, we value original stories, settings and characters very highly," said CEO Chris Mottes. "Our previous games are testament to this, but we believe Faith is going to take our creative might to a whole new level."

The game is currently without a publisher, but Deadline Games will be showing the game with the hope of securing a publishing deal at the 2008 Game Developers Conference next month.
