Fable III to re-invent long-established game mechanics
Will form part of Molyneux's GDC 2010 lecture.
According to GDC 2010 organisers, game development legend Peter Molyneux will deliver a lecture titled "The Complex Challenges of Intuitive Design" at GDC 2010 in March.
Together with fellow designer Josh Atkins, Molyneux will discuss ways to "ensure that gamers of all abilities can quickly and easily immerse themselves in the game world".
The lecture will use Fable III to show "examples of long-established game mechanics which Lionhead intends to replace with more user-friendly and modern iterations".
With Fable II, Molyneux introduced a single button combat system. Perhaps Fable III will get rid of the controller all together.
Also lined-up to deliver lectures at GDC 2010 between March 11 and 13 are Double Fine's Tim Schafer and Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama.

Maybe they're working on a way of never letting you lose money when playing Keystone.
Maybe nearby chests will just empty their contents into your pockets.
Maybe they'll do a Tarantino on us and have a Pulp Fiction-esque scenario where you jump from character to character and play multiple stories within their world, and where the stories cross-over the resultant interractions will depend on how you've played other characters previously.
Maybe they'll do away with inventories.
Maybe they'll include a plastic surgeon NPC.
Anyway, can't wait till March to find out, I remember when Peter announced that Fable II had no death penalty one-button combat and wondered how that was going to work so can't wait to see what they've got in store this time.
