Fable II hasn't perfected the RPG, but it's a massive step in the right direction and a beautiful game to boot. If you think you have what it takes to be a righteous hero, give Fable II a try.

I wandered around and uncovered new areas, looking for dig and dive spots, hunting Gargoyles (I've got 10 of the little Scottish buggers now) plus uncovering treasure and unlocking Demon Doors...
I bought items on the cheap and sold them for a profit to stores with stock shortages...
I took advantage of the economic crisis going on in Oakfield right now and purchased a couple of stalls for myself...
I impressed a few locals, by posing, flirting, showing off my Trophies and generally getting my Renown up by commisioning statues...
I dyed my clothes, hunted around to get an idea of house pricing, bought books, taught my dog new tricks...
I took the Red Bandit quest and eradicated them all for a farmer...
And I tried my hand at pulling pints, plus got myself up to being a 3 Star Woodcutter, earning 70 Gold for every chop...
... and at the end of it all, I realised I'd basically achieved very little for the amount of time I'd played it... and yet, it was utterly fulfilling.
I love this game, and I'm in no rush to see it end. That's not somethig I say very often.

That's basically me too although I pressed on, got the 2nd hero and pushed on into Wraithmarsh and Bloodstone where I'm currently expanding my property portfolio. Fable II is growing on me and has been elevated to 'perfect timewaster' in my games collection.
It gets even better, keep an eye on the hints that pop up during loading screens and there's one that mentions that there are some quests that only become available once the main storyline is complete. RPG heaven.

I spent a good 10,000+ gold on various stalls and houses, so quite interested to see how much my investments recoup overnight.

Although, I have to admit with the review. It's a great game, and besides the glitches here and there (I haven't finished it so can't comment on the ending) it's a great game worth the buy.

Fair enough, people want something they can really rely on. There's one thing you seem to be missing here, though: paid or not, the people writing these reviews are human. Different people have different views and tastes. What I may think is phenomenal, you may think is pathetic. Just because everyone on here is (to a more OR lesser degree) a gamer, doesn't mean everyone has the same standards, views and tastes. Reviews are, to put it bluntly, just somebody's opinion.
True, the professionals allegedly know what they're talking about. But why do they have to be perfect? Even a professional can't get it right every time. And I agree that the rating doesn't quite seem to fit in with the review, but that's (as JDV said) mainly due to the glitches/problems which, let's face it, even a true 10/10 game will have somewhere.
At least it's not just sugar-coating the whole thing and saying there are no glitches or problems anywhere. Surely somebody on this comment board would find SOMETHING to complain about, however trivial.
I've played tons of games which have (obvious AND discreet) glitches. How many games have you played which make your character disappear or turn hollow when you zoom in too close?
It makes more sense to just look at the review as an opinion, rather than something to fully base your choice on. Personally, I'd only trust a close friend or family member who knows what I like and what's good/bad in a game to actually help me choose.
