What we've been playing this week.
Tom Orry, Editor - Fable II, Xbox 360
I've been really enjoying Lionhead's Fable II despite having already finished the main story. Now my character is levelled up further the quests have become pretty easy, but it makes me feel more powerful. Something happened this week, though, that blew my mind. I thought I had a pretty cool dog (his name is DogMintonJermaine if you must know), but after speaking to a friend about his dog (Dogman, pronounced Dogmun), I feel quite ashamed. My dog can do some cool tricks and is pretty nifty at finding treasure, but my mate's dog can now target his urination. That's right. He has taught his dog to piss on people. If I'd known this was possible before I'd written my review, who knows what score I'd have given Lionhead's ambitious RPG.
Wesley Yin-Poole, Deputy Editor - Far Cry 2, Xbox 360
While Far Cry 2 is undoubtedly a brilliant game, as anyone who's read my review will know, it's not without its problems. One of the biggest for me involves the meta-game of sorts that is hunting down diamonds held in flashing white briefcases. You have a GPS sort of thing you can use to track them down with only a small flashing green light as your guide. When it goes nuts you know you're near - I'll jump out of a Jeep in the middle of a fire fight to get them so determined am I to collect them all. I've had awful trouble finding them though, spending literally hours walking around like an aimless idiot trying to work out when it's flashing quickest. Then, one day this week, Tom came in to our games room and pointed out that when the green light stops flashing and is simply on, that means you're pointed in the right direction. I'll never get that time back. Never.
Seb Ford, Video Producer - LittleBigPlanet, PS3
As video producer of the site, one of my lucky tasks is playing through the games to capture the gameplay footage you see in many of the videos on the site - unless the player wasn't very good, in which case it... wasn't me. Yeah. I have been flexing my creative muscle somewhat in the creation of my first Little Big Planet level, complete with fire traps, noxious gas, explosions and ducks. You heard me. The level builder is so massive in fact that I had to spend the first few hours watching tutorials just to get to grips with it, but once you are on something of a roll it's impossible to put down. Unfortunately I have to limit my gaming in order to complete my other tasks, but with enough time you could really create anything, and I mean that - anything! I found myself starting off small, but soon I was creating explosion-powered slingshots and rockets that launch poor Sackboy backwards and forwards across the map for no apparent reason other than to watch him fly.

I also dabbled in my mmorpg of the moment, PSU on the 360, although I should get around to cancelling it in November just so I can get time in for other games.
Friday onwards was a quick 2-hour blast of Fable II and then as it was getting late I had a quick 5 minute look at Dead Space which extended into a 7 hour slaughter-fest, it's a clear cut Game of the Year in the same way that COD:4 was an obvious candidate, so grats to EA Redwood Shores in advance and I hope you get lots of trophies, medals, acclaim, praise, golden joysticks etc. This means the next 7 days will be pure gaming heaven for me, haven't felt this good since Final Fantasy VII got released. Fallout 3 arrives next week, cue lots of serious dilemmas about what to play.
