F1 2013 will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 4, 2013, Codemasters has announced.

The launch of this year's F1 game comes two weeks later than normal. Codemasters' three previous F1 titles each released during the third week of September in their respective years.

The later date could have something to do with the release of GTA 5, which launches two weeks earlier on September 17. Nevertheless, Codemasters still appears confident about launching in close proximity to the upcoming open-worlder, telling VideoGamer.com that F1 is "going to hold its own" against Rockstar's epic.

Two editions of F1 2013 will be available at launch: The Standard Edition, featuring the full game plus a 1980s pack, and the Classic Edition, featuring all of the Standard Edition content and bonus 1990s content and Classic Tracks pack.

You do wonder, don't you? Release either at the start of the season, around Silverstone, or, the best option in my opinion, mid-to-late November to catch both the Texas Grand Prix, Circuit of the Americas market, and the end of the season market. Two birds with one big F1-shaped stone

One of the massive problems with F1 is that it's not a fixed or static series.
The cars at the end of the season are usually very different from the ones at the start of the series.

Codemasters line is that it's not until nearly the end of the season that they have enough data to work with in order to make the game accurate.

Although I would refute that by saying that F1 2010 did not reflect a rule change early on in the season which banned having the rear-view mirrors on turning veins well outside the cockpit.
So the likes of the Ferrari and Red Bull that year were changed early on to have normal mirrors by the cockpit, but despite coming out over 5 months later, F1 2010 still had the old and long since banned style.

Nor have the F1 games ever reflected things like new parts in the season.
Well, sure, they say "we have new developmental parts to test", but you never actually see a visual representation of this.

In the case of F1 2013, the inclusion of the Classic mode is their major effort to negate this issue, as those cars from yester-year are now timeless.

I'm excited at the beginning and would be more likely to pick it up then but excitement always dies down after silverstone so September is way to late

Why don't they bring out the corresponding years at the start of the season not nearing the end of it?
