Report suggests Doom 4 has been indefinitely postponed
Report points to poor RAGE reviews and lack of confidence in id management.
Doom 4 has been indefinitely postponed, according to a rumour on Kotaku. The site, which quotes a source which it states is "claiming to be close to the publishers of the recently-launched RAGE", suggests work on the sequel has been halted due to poor RAGE review scores and a lack of confidence in id Software management.
RAGE earned a solid 8/10 in our RAGE review. We said that "RAGE is a technical powerhouse, and if you can overlook the bits that don't quite work, you'll find one of the most exciting shooters we've had in years".
VideoGamer.com Analysis
RAGE currently sits on a Metacritic of 81, which can't really be classed as bad. Considering the length of RAGE's development the game might not have delivered exactly what was expected, but to postpone Doom 4 seems like an overreaction if true.

UPDATE: Bethesda has poured cold water on the rumour that it has "indefinitely postponed" Doom 4.
Responding to a Tweet by Eurogamer Operations Director Tom Bramwell wondering about the rumour, Bethesda's VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines said bluntly: "complete bollocks".

id Software showed again that they still have it and you can tell id Software wanted to take this game a different path than what they usually do. RAGE in my opinion, suffered because of no typical Team Deathmatch mode, other than just co-op mode, which is borked, and a Death Race style racing mode.
The singleplayer was fine, but short on the explosive scenes which I expected more. If this game was released say, June. RAGE would most probably have better sales, even though it hit 2nd in the UK charts, which isn't bad at all, so it must of sold well, and finally "potential" better review scores? Which again, brings in the time that reviewers have maybe?
Doom 4 to happen for the next gen of consoles, that is my guess now.
