It's probably bad that I already knew this but, I think it's actually a nice touch. Along with the fact that they all end up with dirt and cuts and grazes as the fight goes on. Which explains the transparency of Hitomi's top up there. They're going for a cinematic experience, not a pre-arranged honour-bound pugil-fest. Hell, Soul Calibur V has destructible clothing, DOA5 is actually behind the times! lol. Though technically Fighting Vipers had this years ago >.>
And, if I may, add a somewhat flimsy explanation as to why they're all not wearing professional-grade sports clothing: They dont plan for the fights, they're just going about their business and end up fighting. Though the frequency of said fights might give them an indicator to 'be prepared' but then the same could be said about women going out for a drink in town: Those high heels? really? A skirt THAT short in spring? In fact one might claim that it's almost too close to reality ;)
