Its true what you said that this does not happen with films or TV, i can go back to a TV series or movie half way through months later and connect with it no problem. Maybe its the interactive side of things with videogames.

For instance
Then, when you did realise, it was the mystery of the white robes and finding all the secrets the game had to offer, leading to multiple play throughs. Plus, I found myself leading other players through parts of the game without being able to utter a single word. There was more collaboration there than in many games built around co-op.

My problem with Dishonored became apparent on Monday when I decided to jump in after not playing for a few months.
I am right near the end, I appear where I left off the last time and I have no idea where I am. I have little recollection of what has most recently transpired and as a result I no longer have a connection with the narrative or my reason for being in that predicament. This isn't so much a problem with the game mechanically or otherwise. This is a problem entirely my own. I neglected it for far too long and now cannot re-connect. It would have served me better to have stuck with the game to the end while it was still fresh. And in not doing so I have lost the motivation to re-learn the essentials.
Sorry Arkane. You really did make a purty game :)

I loved it myself and it was top of my list for last year.

It's alright but not half overrated.
