GAME has announced a series of after-hours gaming events taking place across the UK at selected GAME stores, giving consumers the chance to try out unreleased EA games.

The first of the "EA lock-ins" will feature Dead Space 3 and is set to take place on a variety of Sundays beginning on January 6.

In addition to playing the upcoming sci-fi action title, EA and GAME will be providing a variety of snacks and drinks to those in attendance.

You can register for the events by visiting a participating store or send them a tweet to be in with a chance of taking part. Spaces are limited, and you must be over 18.

Anna-Marie Mason, marketing director at GAME said: "We are extremely excited about partnering with EA to offer customers an exclusive sneak peek at their latest titles at the upcoming lock-ins. They're going to be really fun events where the gaming community can get together to test out the latest games and swap notes with a drink in hand and snacks on tap – what more could you want?!"

I'm Alta Ranga on here because I am just about everywhere I want or need a digital footprint of my gaming profile. If people want to call me by my real name then that's cool. I simply have the alias for consistency.

I honstley think it's fussing over nothing, if I mentioned you by first name and you weren't happy fair enough but I didn't in this case.

I don't think any of us who have got to know each other would mind others knowing our names. I just think it's disrespectful to keep publicising it to the world when we've not been asked (some of you may have been asked). If I wanted to be called Leon on here, then my username would be "Leon".

Call people by the name they have chosen to be known by. That's the point of an alias. If I meet you in real life, or we're friends on a network in which I call myself by my real name, then by all means call me Leon. But, on here my name is munkee. I don't see any other real names either. So, out of respect I would only refer to each of you by the alias that you've chosen. So, should everybody.

In fairness, if you disagree. That's cool by me and I won't mention it again.

Don't get your panty's in a twist, Leon. *gasp*! I know your name! Woo now I can find youuuuuuu

Show Spoiler just for clarification, you do know I'm joking, hopefully :P. I find it a bit strange as well, bev. Some might not want to be called by their first name. Goodness forbid when people here start calling me Matt ^_^

But as for the topic... will people be forced to stand to play these games at the stores? Cause if that's so I can't stand (heh) playing games standing up.

He's been calling me by my real name (and spelling it correctly, too, which is a bonus) for so long I don't even notice any more.

And in reply to bevan's post, it's not a community event at all. It is advertising, pure and simple. I guess I can meet half way and agree that it's community advertising. =P

As for the stuff about EA's only concern being to make the community better and not sell a game? I will assume that I am reading that incorrectly because I can assure you all that EA's only concern is to sell games.

Unpublished?

His name is on his profile and it's not to appear that I know them it's just I naturally learn people's name on here from Xbox live chat/gaming or whatever. People on here call me by my name as well so it's just not me :P and I'm not a massive fan of usernames.
My username on here for starters is pretty much my real name and some just call me bev or rich.
Sometimes I call people by their real name, sometimes I call them by their username thats just how it is.

Why do you keep calling people by their unpublished name? Is it to appear as if you know people really well? You're the only person who persistently does it. Genuine question.

EA's only concern is to make our community better Jon, not sell a game. Hence them switching the servers off on Battlefield 3, only to switch them back on after a backlash. That brought people together :P

"EA-sponsored community events"

What a lovely idea. And there I was thinking they're just advertising their new stupid game.

Haha TU

EA were in Cardiff just before Christmas showing off FIFA and Dead Space etc but the bloke told me there was a bit of a wait for Dead Space 3 so I didn't bother.
Someone will be getting it for me on my birthday anyway :P and I already said yeah to doing co-op on it with someone, so tough luck if it's rubbish but if they are showing it around, can't be too bad of a game.

Were they to make it attractive for me to attend this event (not that is says *which* Glasgow store...), the only incentive they could offer would be the chance to win a copy of the game. Doesn't sound like that is on the table, so... why suffer the crowds of ignorance and smell?

What really is the point in these? Its what demo's are for! Besides, why bother going for Dead Space 3 alone, when there is a demo coming out shortly for XBL and PSN.
