Capcom has announced its recently released downloadable title, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, has broken all records on Xbox LIVE with the best week one unit sales in the history of Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Case Zero is a standalone experience that bridges the gap between the original Dead Rising and the soon to be released Dead Rising 2. The game introduces new protagonist, Chuck Greene and his daughter Katey.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is available now priced 400 MS Points. Dead Rising 2 is scheduled for release on September 24 for Xbox 360 and PS3, with the PC version to follow on September 28.

That surprises me - I would have thought Castle Crashers, Peggle or Braid would have held onto that honour... But it *is* a damn fine gaming experience, and has no doubt secured many preorders for DR2.

I guess the premise and nature of the game may be deemed a success. Lets hope the industry doesn't ruin the idea of prequel/origins delivered in this manner...
