Bungie has confirmed that a Halo character will appear in Team Ninja's Dead or Alive 4.

Yes it's true, a Halo character is set to appear as a character in Dead or Alive 4. Neither Bungie or Tecmo's Team Ninja are currently prepared to discuss who or what the character is, but rest assured we will find out soon with X05 taking place over the next few days and the Xbox 360 now less that two months from release. Bungie did have this to say:

"We're going to tell you lots more about how this idea came to fruition in a future update, and we'll tell you how this character fits into the Halo and DOA universe too. Don't worry, Team Ninja handled the fighting style, and we handled the story aspects. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the explanation for a Halo character in the DOA universe, even if it's a bit tongue in cheek."

Let's hope we get more information tonight, but I have a suspicion that the identity of the secret character may be kept under-wraps for the time being.
