Bandai Namco has announced three new DLC packs heading to Dark Souls 2 between July and September.

The Lost Crowns Trilogy features brand new bosses, additional challenges and original areas, with the first chapter 'Crown of the Sunken King' sending players into an "entirely different world” to reclaim the crowns of Drangleic's King Vendrick.

"Crown of the Sunken King, the first chapter in the trilogy, sends players on a journey to reclaim the crowns that Drangleic's King Vendrick once owned," says Bandai Namco. "Crown of the Sunken King features an entirely different world within the DARK SOULS II universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns; but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Players that seek adversity and glory will be rewarded with a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past."

Crowns of the Sunken King will launch in Europe on July 22 on PC and Xbox 360, and July 23 on PS3.

The DLC will be followed by Crown of the Old Iron King on August 26 on PC and Xbox/August 27 on PS3, and Crown of the Ivory King on September 23 on PC and Xbox/September 24 on PS3.

A price for each DLC chapter has yet to be confirmed.

Doing a bit more searching reveals that they made this statement in January after they'd said there were no plans

Woodfella and watur123 are correct.

Don't know how I feel about this yet. Looks like it's quite expansive. This means as the "no plans" statement was made, they knew full-well they were being willingly deceitful.

I'm guessing it won't be as good as Prepare to Die, but might fill in the cavernous plot gaps and hopefully be a wee bit harder than the main game. I'll still probably burn another 120 hours on it though :)

Roll on the BEAST!

They previously said that there were "no plans" as they wanted to deliver a full experience with the initial release. So he is kinda right. But that is typical dev bullsquirt

Not that I give a flying f*ck
