wii u black -

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has weighed in on the discussion of Wii U's power, estimating that Nintendo's console is as powerful as Xbox 360 at a "minimum".

"From my perspective I do not understand the public's concerns that the Wii U is weaker than PS3 and 360," Yerli told CVG. "From my perspective the Wii U is minimum as powerful as Xbox 360.

"My opinion of the Wii U is very high. It's just that we didn't have a business case unfortunately that justifies us making a game for it.

"It doesn't mean that CryEngine 3 doesn't run on Wii U - it actually runs beautifully. In fact, there actually is a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I've seen the game running and it looks really great."

Nintendo's lack of transparency over the Wii U's power has led to speculation that the console may not be as powerful as current-gen hardware.

Last week, Nintendo UK's departing head David Yarnton told VideoGamer that "at the end of the day, [Nintendo's consoles] provide what they do."

Crytek is currently in the midst of a major change.

In an interview published on VideoGamer yesterday, Yerli detailed the firm's plans to transition to a free-to-play developer.

Everyone just needs to give the Wii U a chance. The thing hasn't even come out yet and is preforming on par with current games on the current gen. I not saying it will be incredible, but it is so depressing seeing people write that it isn't even as capable as the current gen, when that certainly isn't the case, and when given the time will far out preform the current gen.

Personally I don't see the divide between the Wii U and next gen to be anywhere near as big as the Wii and the other current gen consoles. I'm not saying there won't be a gap, but not as big as SD and HD.

Unrelated to the topic, I like it when new users appear with something interesting to say. Welcome muro2023 :)

Yeah but when next gen comes out consoles are going to be much better than this gen and like its been said they will progress even further over time leaving wiiU in the dust. But the wii has never been about power really has it, and it still brought in huge sales numbers.

No because like with Wii U now they were new systems that took years to take advantage of especially with PS3 and its awkward Cell archictecture. I hadn't thought of the Wii U from this angle, but when I think about it this way yes, it does have fantastic potential considering its launch titles are already on par with current gen.

On the other hand I'm not convinced about Miiverse, and for me console wars are more about XBox Live vs Sony Entertainment Network vs Steam (vs OnLive vs Gaikai etc) rather than actual hardware capabilities.

Each of these services are so ingrained with gaming that they have their respective users in vice-like grips, and whilst I hate the segregation of gamers that results these services are very hard to give up.

Unless Nintendo managed to get hold of some rusty old parts from a trash bin somewhere I'd say being less powerful than current- gen hardware is pretty much impossible. At least as powerful as Xbox 360?... ok I know the that this guy is trying to justify the Wii U but come on, the 360 is dated to hell now. It can't even compete with PS3 anymore. Ghost Recon Future Soldier and ESV Skyrim prove that just to name a couple. All these idiots who criticise the Wii U saying stuff like it isn't a significant leap in generation tech and such should carefully consider the following.

All launch games for both Xbox360 and PS3 including games that came out up to two years into their life cycles now look dated. The Wii U looks much better and I'm pretty sure the ageing rust box 360 is even worse.
Simply put the potential of Wii U is yet to be realised people so give it a break already!
