Amazon.co.uk reports on huge increases in pre-orders for some of this year's sequels.

The likes of Gears of War 3, FIFA 12, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are all recording significantly more pre-orders than previous releases in their respective series, Amazon.co.uk reports.

Amazon.co.uk looked at current pre-orders totals on these titles and compared them to the previous game in the series with the same of amount of time remaining until release.

Battlefield 3 has seen the greatest pre-order boost with over 2,000 per cent more pre-orders than Battlefield 2 had achieved.

  • Gears of War 3 (release date 20 September 2011) 216% more pre-orders than Gears of War 2
  • FIFA 12 (release date 30 September 2011) 325% more pre-orders than FIFA 11
  • Batman Arkham City (release date 21 October 2011) 349% more pre-orders than Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Battlefield 3 (release date 28 October 2011) 2,302% more pre-orders than Battlefield 2
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (release date 1 November 2011) 488% more pre-orders than Uncharted 2
  • Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (release date 8 November 2011) 321% more pre-orders than Call of Duty: Black Ops

"We have already started seeing a great deal of excitement about the major video games launches for Christmas this year and that can be seen by how many people are pre-ordering these titles," said Liz Hosmer, video game manager at Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "Call of Duty: Black Ops is the biggest selling video game of all-time on Amazon.co.uk and it looks from these figures like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 might well be challenging for that title come the end of the year."

I would do them now before you get less for them.

Like it has already been said, I too, also believe that these games will succeed. These games have a huge following, and this year will be interesting either way.

Yeah, would be nice to see the comparison for BC2 to BF3 rather then BF2.

I dont think this is surprising. Especially for Battlefield 3. I think that all three will all sell incredibly well. And if Bad Company 2 sold 8 million, then I'm sure Bf3 will do pretty well.

Whoa, that's pretty mental. At least I've added to that percentage on Amazon :D

Haven't pre-ordered anything else yet though. Thinking about selling my Black Ops and Fifa11 to fund the expensive months ahead.
