Modern Warfare 2 tops 20 million sales

That's more than one in three Xbox 360 and PS3 owners.

We knew Modern Warfare 2 had been a huge hit, but Activision has revealed that the Infinity Ward developed title has now reached the rather spectacular milestone of 20 million units sold.

Speaking at Activision's E3 investor conference, CFO Thomas Tippl said: "Modern Warfare 2 has sold more than 20m units against an install base of 55m on Xbox 360 and PS3."

Ever in the headlines CEO Bobby Kotick added that the Call of Duty franchise has "reached life-to-date revenues of $3bn."
