Modern Warfare 2 the 3rd best-selling game in the US

Sales now at just under 10 million units.

According to the NPD Group, Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the third best-selling game of all time in the US.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the third-best-selling game of all-time, now at just under 10 million units life-to-date," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier.

In February the game sold 314,300 units on Xbox 360 and 252,800 units on PS3. The game launched worldwide on November 10.

Apparently the top two are Wii Play and Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock; the place this come from only goes back to 1995.

super mario bros and super mario world? they were bundled with the nes and snes for god knows how many years and through some bizarre twisting of the rules managed to count as unit sales.
