Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 caused quite a stir when the publisher confirmed the game would carry the higher retail price of £54.99, but come the game's launch tomorrow gamers will be able to pick up the title for under half that price.

According to a price round-up posted by MCV, the best deal will be at Supermarket giant Sainsbury's which has confirmed it will be selling the title for only £26. Rival supermarkets are also getting in on the game, Asda £32 and Tesco £37.90 (£25 when bought with any other chart game).

At the video game retailers the best deals appear to be £9.99 at HMV when you trade in either Forza 3, Tekken 6 or Uncharted 2, or GAME's £25 when you trade in the first Modern Warfare.

Funny thing is that this game that we were moaning about the price increase has turned out to be cheaper than most regular releases!

If it's only 45 seconds you might as well go anyway just incase! :D Last I heard was what you said, any more changes will probably be made there and then.

any update on Tesco's price? ..because if they are selling for £25 straight, there's a Tesco 45seconds from my house it would really help. :D

My point was that I didn't see the big deal of the first and wasn't that excited about it. But being able to get it so cheap at launch is just good business sense. I could buy it, complete it and trade it in for a value close to what I bought it new for.

I wasn't going to get it but a friend pretty much made me feel bad if I ddin't lol. There's also a massive difference form £25 to £45 and the advertised £55. Madness.

Called Tesco they have confirmed that their price may still change and they won't know until 12. They also confirmed that the offer mentioned earlier is still valid so that points at a more expensive price than £25!

Hmmm, I could go to Asda near me at midnight or go to the Sainsburys near me for 8 in the morning. I think I'll spend the extra £6 at midnight and get a lie in tomorrow.

Just heard on the grape vine Lee but have yet to confirm that Tesco have scrapped the Buy on get the game at £25 and now are offering the game on it's own for £25 to compete with Sainsburys if I get confirmation I'll let you know I want new GTA so not a bad offer for me.
