Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 News

Activision believes the Infinity Ward sequel has a good chance of becoming the best selling game ever.

MCV reports that Activision wants to make Modern Warfare 2 not just the biggest-selling game this year, but of all time.

“Each year the Call of Duty franchise goes from strength-to-strength,” said brand manager Simon Wells.

“We want to propel this year's title to be the biggest selling video game of all time. That may raise some eyebrows, but step back and look at the franchise's trajectory through preceding launches, and this objective starts to look viable.”

Wells also believes the highly anticipated sequel will compete to be the biggest entertainment property of the year.

“We firmly believe we have the potential to be the No.1 entertainment property of the year. The reality for a franchise as large as Call of Duty is that we are competing directly with entertainment propositions outside of the video game space," said Wells.

Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for release worldwide on November 10.

If it sets a new record it's only because of COD4's hype. Just like HALO 3 had hype. I'm not even excited about this game... unless they have a new control scheme, new engine, different multiplayer experience... it would just be another rerun of older COD games.

Big words considering this year has several big films out, transformers 2, terminator, and the latest harry potter, not to mention all the other big games to be released. But, I can still see him being proved right, afterall there is a real buzz surrounding this game, and considering its still months away before release, the hype machine will definately help it sell by the bucket load. I'll be getting a copy thats for sure.
