Infinity Ward appears to have lifted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's ending almost wholesale for an early sequence in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Spotted by YouTube user satantribal, the video above shows the similarities between the two sequences, with identical animations appearing to have been reused throughout the 18 second clip.

The sequence is featured in the opening level of Ghosts after orbital super-weapon ODIN is turned on the US.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launched yesterday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC and Wii U, and launches on Xbox One next Friday, November 15. Analysis

Asset sharing is to be expected, of course, but re-skinning such a significant sequence for the opening of this year's blockbuster seems an embarrassingly lazy move on Infinity Ward's part.

Although this is fairly shocking i'm wondering how much this really affected the ending for you Dave? As someone who will probably just skip ghosts entirely I don't really have an opinion on the subject.

I get reusing, but when you have two years to develop the same games over and over, how long till it's really just a re skinned game almost asset for asset?
I expect more for my money, consumers are either so misinformed or don't care, because these things are still popular.

I just thought of Michael Bay reusing footage in his films. If it's what you want to achieve I have no problems with re-skinning a scene for another use.

I guess this is going to cause a stir but surely a developer reusing assets is a smart idea?

The first thing I was taught as a programmer was never write something from scratch when you can swipe it from somewhere else.

This does seem like a rather insignificant 18 seconds. Ok, it is the same but does it really matter?

FIFA's been doing this for about 20 years, but the first time people notice it in a different franchise they go nuts? I don't get it...
