Today saw the long awaited XBLA release of Castle Crashers from The Behemoth, developer of much loved side-scrolling action title Alien Hominid.

Castle Crashers features a mix of beat 'em up action with RPG elements which enable players to hack, slash and smash their way to victory. The game is priced 1200 MS Points and includes 20 levels, over 40 weapons, more than 20 unlockable characters and online/local cooperative player.

The price point is a little higher than your average XBLA title, but The Behemoth claims Castle Crashers is one of the largest games on the service.

As much as I hate to admit it I have encountered a dropped multiplayer game now. I was the host with one of my buddies playing with me and the game began to stutter and then just dropped us out to menu, kicking him totally. I have open NAT...I really hope they can remedy these...or at the very least I hope that the drops are few and far between, because up until the drop we were having a blast.

Great game.

I think most of the problems are down to people not having fully OPEN NAT settings on their routers/modems.

Like Stirdy, I've been playing online throughout most of the day with friends and I have yet to encounter a single problem/bug/glitch/dropped connection.

Tis a great game though. I really love it. It has made me laugh a fair number of times today... and very few games manage that.

Update: I've spent a couple hours with Castle Crashers and have experienced zero problems whatsoever with the singleplayer. Some buddies and I are going to get into the multiplayer tonight but I don't expect any problems there either. It looks like the early reports were just sissies. It's a really great game as far as I can tell.

Already many people are complaining about bugs, freeze-ups, too-easy difficulty, and multiplayer problems. I hope they iron these out.
