The Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will only require an installation to access the single-player campaign, Activision has confirmed, revealing that those who wish to jump straight into the multiplayer will not need to sit through any lengthy installation process.

Activision Community Manager Dan Amrich clarified the installation process in a blog post this evening, confirming that the Xbox 360 version of Ghosts "will require a little space and time to install its single-player campaign data. This should be less than 3GB of space, but you’ll want to make sure you've either cleared space or you’ve got an appropriate USB flash drive ready.

"Ghosts will play on an Xbox 360 with an internal 4GB flash drive – just use that built-in storage space for the installation. Also, any compatible USB 2.0 flash drive (formatted for Xbox) with enough free space will also work, including thumb drives."

He continued: "If you're just planning to head to the multiplayer lobbies first thing, you won’t need to install anything – you can jump in right away, and soak up thatspecial launch weekend of double XP."

Freefall, the multiplayer map provided for free to all pre-order customers, will require an additional download, however, which "should be less than 250MB".

It was revealed last week that Call of Duty: Ghosts would require an installation after an image of the game’s box leaked online.

If you’re planning on picking the game up on next-generation consoles, though, you may want to reconsider which version will be best for you.

Infinity Ward confirmed earlier this evening that the PlayStation 4 version will run at a native 1080p resolution, with the Xbox One version rendering at 720p.
