Treyarch is developing an “exciting” new Call of Duty due for release later this year, Activision has announced.

The game will be “loaded with innovation”, Activision says, and is scheduled to release during Q4, suggesting it will take the same early November slot as recent Call of Duty titles.

It’ll also be the first Call of Duty from Treyarch to benefit from a three-year development cycle. Treyarch previously developed Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

However, it isn’t yet clear whether the new game will be a sequel to Black Ops or the widely-rumoured return to World at War. Whatever it is, Activision believes it will be “one of our best games yet”.
