Call of Duty: Black Ops cheats be warned - Treyarch doesn't like what you're doing and has no intention of letting your antics carry on.

Posting on the official CoD forums earlier this week, Treyarch's David Vonderhaar explained the situation.

"I got Twitbombed today from dozens of people the same 2 links. Some are people using old dashboards or old versions of the game. Others are claiming victory on old dev builds that don't even connect to the version of Xbox Live that you use. Others are reproducible issues that we will hotfix or patch just like we said we would. In essence, we likely know more about it than you do from watching a video on Vimeo or YouTube.

"What many of these people want is to be Internet nerd famous. I'm not going to make them famous and you shouldn't either. Internet hysteria from normal people is exactly what they want and that's how many people reacted today. You gave them exactly what they want.

"Given the opportunity, I'd personally wield the ban hammer for anyone who thinks he is clever by abusing any glitches. Good thing I don't have the opportunity that often and we actually have a constructive, measured, and well-managed live ops team.

"We said we would support the game. We are going to support it."

Vonderhaar concluded: "We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags. You better think twice before you glitch. You never know who in your game doesn't like glitchers who reports you and saves the game in their File Share and tells us about it.

"Our forum admins and VIPs along with JD_2020 (Community Manager) will be managing the communication directly."

VideoGamer.com Analysis

A small band of players which utilise glitches to gain an advantage over other players is a genuine concern for the balance of Black Ops multiplayer, potentially ruining games for those taking part fairly.

The game's fans will be pleased to see Treyarch feels so passionately about the issue, and appears ready and willing to take action.

You don't have to exploit bugs though, and the game isn't broken...

They should be hitting out at the PC team first then hitting out at exploiters.

Strong words, but there will (almost) always glitches and if Tryarch can't or won't fix them then people will exploit them.

with blak ops they intriduced the theatre mode so the evidence is there for treyarch to look at these people if its modded controls or glitches/exploits i think this is revolutionary ion terms of console gaming. Instead of the stupid microsoft reporting there is official cod reporting in game. Amazing decision and about time someone done it

More like breaking the 4th wall. Its where people somehow find a part where the coding isn't correctly done and glitch themselves within the map and being able to sit there and fire away without anyone doing a thing.

Here is an example from World At War:

Good news that they're actively going to try and stop this.
My only question (as a gamer uneducated in the ways of the force) is:
How do you know who's doing it?

I presume that glitching is when the game gets jumpy in multiplayer and you can't really control your character, but I always just thought it was to do with people's internet connection. What is it that people are doing to cause it?

I'll only say they are doing their job when I have seen evidence of them taking action. Actions are stronger than words in this sense.

Other than that. Nice to hear Treyarch coming 'out' and saying this. I'm more likely to continue playing the multiplayer longer than I did with World At War.
