Following on from the multiplayer success of Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops' online director Dan Hunting has told VideoGamer.com the game will still restrict Xbox LIVE gamers from using party chat in some of the game's online modes.

"We have that same restriction in certain playlists where they can use party chat to exploit the game mode. For example, Search and Destroy. Search and Destroy is one of those cases where it's really critical that you don't share information with anybody on the other team because it's a very tactical, hardcore game mode," said Bunting in an interview with VideoGamer.com.

But is it still blocked on Team Deathmatch, like it was in Modern Warfare 2? "No. We've taken it out of any game mode where it doesn't make sense to have it."

The final list of game modes in Black Ops has yet to be announced.

This doesn't affect PlayStation 3 users, as Sony's console doesn't have capabilities for cross-game chat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released November 9.
