Great news for Mass Effect fans - a movie may well be in the works.

That's according to Variety's The Cut Scene, which says that "Numerous sources have confirmed that producer Avi Arad has optioned the rights to Bioware's sci-fi RPG from the developer's parent publisher Electronic Arts".

There are absolutely zero details on this at the moment. Arad himself headed up Marvel's movie business and helped get the X-Men, Spider Man and Iron Man movies off the ground. He recently began work on a Lost Planet move with his own production company.

Fingers crossed, if true, that the movie will do the superb game justice. We've contacted EA for comment.

HOORAH!

-but, hang on... Mass Effect IS a movie. A glorious interactive one where I decide who Shepherd shoots in the face. I ever decide his/her sex, and how she looks.

What do I get from the movie that the game doesn't provide?! (probably less planet landing side quests...)
