Nearly six million units shipped to date and is one of the publisher's most important long-term properties.
Borderlands 2 is on course to become the highest selling title in 2K's history, Take-Two executive chairman and chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick has said.
"Building on its extraordinary launch in September, Borderlands 2 continues to expand its audience and remains on pace to become the highest selling title in 2K's history," Zelnick told investors during an overnight Q3 earnings call. "It has also been the largest contributor to our digitally delivered revenue this year, driven both by strong sales of full-game downloads and high attach rates for the titles out on content, especially the Borderlands 2 season pass."
He added: "With nearly 6 million units sold in to-date, an average Metacritic score of 90 and 73 end-of-year awards worldwide, Borderlands 2 has taken the already successful Borderlands franchise to another level, enabling it to become one of Take-Two's and the industry's most important long-term properties."
A Borderlands 2 Add-On Content Pack is due to launch at retail on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 1, including two of the three add-ons released for Gearbox's co-op shooter so far, plus a variety of bonuses previously only available to pre-order customers.
