Gearbox Software has confirmed that Borderlands 2 will offer a $30 Season Pass, providing access to all four planned DLC releases.

News of the Season Pass emerged on NeoGAF following GameStop's conference, and was later confirmed by Gearbox to Kotaku.

Further details are expected very soon, possibly at PAX this weekend.

Gearbox has thus far only talked about the Mechromancer DLC, but it seems unlikely that this pre-order bonus content will be included in the Season Pass.

Based on the original Borderlands DLC I'm pretty much instantly sold on this. Plus 30 dollars is like 20 pounds.

I think that this is the sort of game which can benefit from a season pass. B1 had 4 pieces of DLC which were well received and I imagine B2 would probably have more than that.

Once I have the money for Borderlands 2 I'll have, and once I have the money for the DLC pass that too will be mine. I don't mind paying for DLC in a pack because that way I know I'll get it when its out and wont have to wait.

Hmmm... each of the pieces of content from Borderlands 1 was a fantastic addition to the game (even the Moxxi piece, despite the huge level of frustration, provided a lot of extra gameplay hours), so I have a good degree of confidence in Gearbox. Much more so that Volition with its disappointingly awful Saints Row the Third content...

So... I think I shall go for this, despite the high price. A Gearbox game is the only thing that could command that level of confidence. Here's hoping they don't fall victim to the usual season pass curse (out now for new customers, seasons pass holders will have to wait for an unspecified while until the servers can be rejigged for an in-game purchase...)

Pay $30 now for something you'll have to wait up to a year for and have no idea if it's going to be any good? They should do a Kickstarter.
