Technical problems severely hampered development, one in particular taking eight months to overcome.
Speaking at the Montreal International Game Summit 2007, Harvey Smith, creator of the hit PC game Deus Ex, has revealed a troubled development of its PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 first-person shooter Blacksite.
The game has fallen below Smith's high standards, stating the project was "f***ed up"
"Everyone was forced to share tech. It took eight months to get one thing working," said Smith noting that technical problems plagued development. "With a year to go, the game was disastrously off rails."
Perhaps the biggest reason for a sub par game came because there was no time for quality testing, Smith noting Blacksite "went straight from alpha to final".
In contrast Smith's highly praised Deus Ex went through six months of play testing to ensure the final product was as good as the team could make it.
Blacksite will be released for PC and Xbox 360 on November 30. The PlayStation 3 version is expected early in 2008.
