Premium content to be purchased in-game.
Big Download has learnt that the sequel to downloadable multiplayer shooter Blacklight: Tango Down will be free to download and play.
The original game launched in 2010 on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PSN and PC digital download stores.
Zombie Studios' CEO Mark Long told Big Download that "the full game will be free along with premium content that can be purchased in-game. Blacklight will feature a large number of improvements based on the player feedback we've gotten. And we hope going free-to-play will close that loop so we can respond even faster to player preferences."
The sequel won't use any of the content from the original, meaning new weapons, levels and items. No release date has been announced.
Blacklight: Tango Down didn't exactly thrill us on its released last year. Although being a fraction of the price of multiplayer shooters like Modern Warfare 2, the game wasn't seen as a viable alternative. If the sequel is free then it'll be an easier sell, with a better chance of gaining a community.
