2K on BioShock 2: "We have nothing to announce at all"
Publisher responds to BioShock prequel Internet rumour.
2K Games said it has "nothing to announce at all" in response to rumours currently doing the rounds online that the inevitable sequel to many gamers' 2007 favourite BioShock will be a prequel and will depict the fall of Rapture.
Although not officially announced, a sequel to BioShock is pretty much guaranteed as a result of the game's surprise sales success.
And rumours surfaced on Sunday from Czech gaming site Hrej.cz, which said a source within 2K Games told them that not only was BioShock 2 already in the pre-production phase and scheduled for a mid-2009 release, but that the plot will be set before the events that took place in the original game.
When VideoGamer.com contacted 2K Games today for comment, a representative said the publisher had "nothing to announce at all", which doesn't quite refute the rumours, but doesn't give us anything to play with either.
Earlier Internet dirt dishing surrounding the development of BioShock alleged that 2K Boston, previously Irrational Games, experienced some internal problems when making the game, and that led to some of the developers to start up a new studio so that they could make BioShock 2 free from head honcho Ken Levine.
BioShock fans across the world will be hoping that the move won't have an adverse effect on the next instalment in what we, fingers crossed, reckon could be one of the greatest video game franchises ever.
You can see why we gave BioShock a perfect 10 in our review here, and what the recent widescreen enabling patch does for the looks of the game in our exclusive screenshots here.

I agree with the comments given by some on here, theres always a possibility, seeing as how large the population in rapture was, that someone would have found a way to produce more adam. all of the labs and data would in theory still be accessible by any of the (im gonna call them prisoners) of rapture. not to mention that maybe (and this is a biiiiiig maybe) that fontaine wasn't completely destroyed. Adam was responsible for incredible things down in rapture, so whos to say that maybe its capable of bringing the dead back to life.
in my opinion, a sequel would be very possible. While you do die in the good ending, you only die of old age, and, taking into theory that adam may have a longevity affect, there should be plenty of time between the ending of BS1 and your death for you to have another plasmid pumping go around with the denizens of Rapture when they decide to **** stuff up.
either way, i believe that another addition to this awesome story is very welcome to the already humongus fan based its amassed.

Way to do your research. Not only has Bioshock 2 been officially announced, but it has been officially announced for the past four months (at the date of your publication). Not only that, but this article is completely unprofessional and poorly written. 'Pretty much guaranteed?' Ha!
I guess one should never trust a site that has been blandly named 'videogamer.com.'
well...

ryan and fontane both died so there would be no villian
plus, u die too in the good ending
and i doubt they would base the 2nd game off the evil ending
prequel would be the only thing possible
