EA's Battlefield franchise continues with Battlefield: Bad Company for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Digital Illusions is building the next instalment in the Battlefield series from the ground up, specifically for the next generation consoles - it's not a current-gen to next-gen port this time around.

Bad Company is also moving away from the multiplayer focus of previous battlefield games, instead offering more in the way of a solo experience. Players will need to control a squad of renegade soldiers and infiltrate enemy territory, and we're promised a cinematic experience with lots of action and dark humour. Obviously expect lots of guns and explosions, all of which will cause massive damage on the environments, 90% of which is said to be destructible.

Multiplayer fans shouldn't be too disappointed though; the game will feature a much more complete solo experience, but there's also a full range of multiplayer modes to look forward to.

Battlefield: Bad Company is scheduled for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007.
