The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 4 requires a huge 14.4GB installation in order to achieve the best performance, an EA support page has revealed.

In addition to a mandatory 2GB install, Battlefield 4's mutliplayer and single-player component – which ship on separate discs – each offer optional installs for "better performance".

The Multiplayer Disc, or Disc 1: Has an additional 6.6 GB of content
The Single Player Disc, or Disc 2: Has 5.8 GB of installation content

"We highly recommend performing these additional installations to make sure you have the best experience possible in Battlefield 4," states the support page.

Installation requirements for the PS3 version haven't been posted.

Battlefield 4 launches November 1 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Analysis

A 2GB mandatory installation seems reasonable, but 14.4GB for the best performance is going to be an issue for many Xbox 360 gamers struggling for free storage space.

Indeed, my mother in law recently bought a 64gb USB2.0 pen drive for 9.99. it's really not a big deal.

People with 4GB 360s can still buy the (expensive) official hard drive, isn't? ;-)

Also, BF3 on PC requires a minimum mandatory installation of 25gb (and more with the DLCs)... and BF4 will be probably bigger... so it's a but unrealistic think that the 360s should handle it only using 4gb.

At last, people don't need to kept all their games installed in the internal storage, as long as they keep the saved games in 360s (or at the Xbox Live, or even stored on USB drive). So alternatives exist.

PS: remember... this is a 7 years old console... so people still using a 4gb should get a life... or better, a hard drive. :-)

People with 4gb 360s have been screwed for ANY installable disc content.

Anyone claiming there's plenty of scope in the current gen consoles for improvement should have told these guys that imo ;)
