Battlefield 3 "offers so much more" than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu has told Gamasutra.

The comparison to Modern Warfare 3 is welcome, says Liu. "It feels good. They're behemoths, and just the notion that we would be able to take a chunk from their gamers is awesome."

However, Liu believes his game has the upper hand. "They're both military shooters, but in terms of flavour and style they're different. But we offer so much more than they do, I think; but that's me."

Liu added: "I think we wanted to have a lot of variety, and different flavours within the game, so we could appeal to different kinds of gamers, and the co-op was one of those things that we identified as like, 'We probably need this. A lot of people want to play together, and they don't want to compete.' So we offer that because of that."

Battlefield 3 will launch October 28 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Proxies are good enough if its just for singleplayer if you really want to play it on US release date.

The EU release dates are normally just after the US release dates. In our regions we all received a memo stating the reason for this. It described the US gaming board making a plea to the EU executives asking for earlier release dates. Apparently it takes American gamers slightly longer, on average 48 hours, to play through the tutorial missions. The release schedules are structured so that we're not at an unfair advantage when the games are released here.

Cold hard facts there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited for BF3 and I <3 DICE but its ridiculous that EA can't pull of a simultaneous release in EU and USA. I know it's only a couple of days but still...

He was being sarcastic.

We're so assured of the importance of our country, that we can joke about it then revert straight back to apathy.

Like this.

Oh, didn't really even think about a different release date for EU.

What is funny though is that we get it first and you claim our country is not important. Enjoy waiting those extra two days :)

Harsh. In all fairness to him the article doesn't state it as an EU release date.

I would be worried if I was EA surely their producer should be spending his time on his game then playing mw3 to know how it compares ;)

No, European release date is 28th. There are no other countries that are important in this reality.

Good to see that EA still don't see Call of Duty as competition...
