The Xbox 360 has been home to some hugely popular multiplayer betas - we're thinking Halo 3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War - but it missed out on EA and DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The beta instead appeared on PS3 and will soon be making its way to PC.

We caught up with DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke to find out why Xbox 360 gamers were left out.

"It's just logistics," explained Van Dyke. "If we could have done a beta on all of them we would have. We can't go into all the details, because some of it has to do with legal stuff, but it was really just logistics."

He added: "There was no, we want to do it on the PS3 and then go to Sony and then they grease us for doing it. No. It was like, we need to do this, we need to do it in these time frames, and we were open to all options. Unfortunately it didn't work out for Xbox 360, but it was nobody's fault and it wasn't a predetermined decision. It wasn't a personal thing, absolutely not. We would have given it to everyone if we could have, but it just didn't work out that way."

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is scheduled for release on March 5 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The PC beta is scheduled to begin January 28.
