Responding to fan submitted questions, Remedy co-founder and development director Markus Maki has admitted that development of the title has taken longer than expected, but the team is confident it will meet its planned spring 2010 launch.

"I don’t think any developer plans on working on a single game for this long, but for the last 1-1.5 years we’ve hit our own milestone targets very well and thus were confident on announcing the Spring 2010 release," said Maki.

Maki also added that there is a chance we'll see a playable demo released, confirming that the decision on whether to release a demo is still to be made.

Moving onto more technical aspects of the game's development, Maki revealed that Alan's in-game model has been based on real photography, with the high resolution version consisting of 1.2 million triangles. In-game this figure is shrunk down to 13,058 triangles thanks to clever use of bump, occlusion and wrinkle maps.

Asked about the switch from PC and console development to the sole focus on Xbox 360, and if this has led to any design changes, Maki noted:

"Alan Wake as game design and our technology has from the start been primarily targeted towards consoles. We knew most of the gamers would play our game on the consoles and wanted to ensure they got a really good experience - we learned that lesson when doing the Max Payne 1 & 2 games.

"Definitely, the game looks and runs excellent on the Xbox360. We’ve always used the same assets when working with both platforms and there have been no design changes based on this. The console is hassle free and smooth experience."

Just get the game finished, then concentrate on the demo.

In some instances the demos put people off the games as they are too incomplete. This is why we don't always get a demo. A good example of this is Resi 5.

I'll laugh if they delay it again. It just reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever.
