Following confirmation that Funcom had laid off staff at its US branch the future of the Xbox 360 version of the studio's ambitious PC MMO was uncertain.

Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, Funcom product manager Erling Ellingsen has moved to quash talk of the Xbox 360 version being cancelled, but refused to pin down any specific dates.

"Our aim is for this (layoffs) to not affect development of 'Age of Conan,' or any of our other games, at all. We are sticking firmly to our plans. The Xbox 360 version of the game is still in production, but as before we are not committing to any specific dates. I wish I could give you more information, but I can't at the time being," explained Ellingsen.

Age of Conan was released in May, 2008 for PC, with a million copies shipped in under three weeks from launch.
