Vivendi Universal ruled to be unlawfully distributing Valve software in cyber cafes, while other legal action is still taking place.
Valve has announced that they have won their court case against Vivendi Universal Games over the publishers unlawful distribution of Valve games in Cyber Cafes. The statement read:
"US Federal District Court in Seattle, WA granted [our] motion for summary judgment on the matters of Cyber Cafè Rights and Contractual Limitation of Liability in [the] copyright infringement suit with Sierra/Vivendi Universal Games,"
Valve founder Gabe Newell was clearly happy with the ruling. "We're happy the court has affirmed the meaning of our publishing contract. This is good news for Valve and its cyber cafè partners around the world," said Gabe.
While this win will be great news for Valve, a number of other breach of contract claims are still being pursued.
