The success of Xbox Live appears to owe a lot to the huge online success of Halo 2.
Halo 2's single-player campaign has received some criticism, but there's no denying that the game's online mode has captured many an Xbox gamer's heart.
Xbox Live currently has six million subscribers and Bungie's latest stats show that a staggering 4.75 million unique gamertags have logged onto Halo 2.
The game has amassed almost 670 million online matches, with 4.5 billion player slots filled across these games. All this makes for great reading for Microsoft who will be banking on Halo 3 cleaning up when it's released later this year.
