Noted author to write Halo Forerunner trilogy

First novel expected in 2010.

Kotaku reports that noted science fiction author Greg Bear is to write the Halo Forerunner Trilogy, a series set in the earliest days of the Halo universe - some 100,000 years into the series' past.

The Forerunners were an ancient race worshipped by the Covenant as gods, who annihilated themselves in an effort to turn the tide in the battle against the Flood. The trilogy of novels will expand on the ancient race and their ties to humanity.

The first book in the Forerunner trilogy is expected in 2010.
