"David Scammell, Deputy News Editor"? When did that happen? Did someone get a pay rise. or just a fancy new title?

Anyways Neon I loved Vice City - that actually made me go out and buy GTAIII back in the day. Until Vice City I had no interest in the series. Couldn't get into San Andreas though - partly because I wasn't a fan of the whole black gang culture thing, but mainly because I couldn't understand what any of the chars were actually saying. All the gangsta talk just went straight over my head. I had a 14" tele back then too and the subtitles were too small for me to read. Yes, I'm not hip, leave me alone.

As for me, I've been playing a lot of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning these past couple of weeks. The combat's okay, and the story shows a bit of promise, but blah I'm bored as hell to be honest. It's the whole open world and side quest thing - I had the same problem with Oblivion, where I burn myself out on the game with all the side-quests before even getting onto the main story quests.

Unbelievably, CheekyLee actually tried to defend the Wii U system update the other day and suggest that the problem came down to the user, not Nintendo or the console :P
Cheeky IwataLee San says stop complaining!

I loved that style the GTA games used to have and actually really miss it. I understand that a lot of it was due to poly counts and texture weight. But, it was really cool, big, chunky characters who possed a whole lotta swagger when they moved.

I also loved he long, slow build up of San Andreas. Spending so much time in the hood really made you feel like it was your teenage stomping ground. You learned the tricks of the trade there, had successful and broken relationships with people, intricately learned the backstreets and got a sense of home when you returned later in the game. You even fought a war there, dammit!

This week I spent a lot of time with Super Mario 3D Land. It's a great game, but a little too easy. Ive pretty much 3 coined most levels first try and im now on the new page of world 8. The visuals are spectacular and the lands are vibrant. Mario controls perfectly with the heavy yet gravity defying weight that only Mario can have. It's a very good game.

I've just ordered Alien: Infestation and hope to have that Monday. Really looking forward to it.
