FIFA 06 News

Asda and Argos cut the RRP by almost a third.

FIFA 2006 is one of the biggest releases of the year, but that hasn't stopped Asda and Argos (two of the UK's biggest retailers) from cutting the price of the PS2 and Xbox versions to £24.99. The game is selling for £34.99 at GAME, and Tesco and Dixons are selling EA's footy title for just shy of £30.

It seems odd that such large price reductions has been made on the day of the game's release, especially as it has been backed by a huge marketing campaign that would have given the title huge sales at a higher price.

There has been talk of a general lower price of current-gen software as we move over to next-gen consoles, but it's still unexpected for such a high profile release. Whether or not Asda and Argos will offer other new releases at a similar price remains to be seen, but price cuts can only be good news for consumers.
