Reuters reports that Rockstar's Bully will be released exclusively for PS2 in October.

Despite being announced many moons ago and with a barrage of controversy in the press, Rockstar has since been quietly getting on with the job at hand - so much so that the game is almost complete and scheduled for release in October.

"Finally Bully can speak for itself. People can look at the game and see what it is and what it's not," Rockstar spokesman Rodney Walker told Reuters.

The game stars Jimmy Hopkins, a fictional teenage student of Bullworth Academy. Rather than taking the role of the bully, you will play as Jimmy and must go about your daily school routine whilst defending yourself from the bullies using a range of weapons and pranks. Unlike Rockstar's famously violent titles GTA and Manhunt, Bully's fights won't feature any blood or deaths. Other character stereotypes such as geeks and jocks will also appear.

Other news is that Bully has become a PlayStation 2 exclusive, the Xbox version seemingly unable to cope with the harsh words the PS2 was slinging its way.

By what I've read of this game the main goal is to become respected by other students ,and may be teachers, by protecting them from bullies and doing practical jokes on teachers and other students.

whats with these protesters and people saying this game shouldn't come out. So what! you can't kill any one and there isn't any blood, so whats the problem?. I've read quite a few reviews on this game and its not all bullying, you can go to the local town on the game and ride variable vehicles, spend some of your money on sweets and then get back in time for school. It also says that your defending against bully's not just being one your self.

This game is in such a lower league than GTA, man hunt...etc ( that i do not have! ) but i can understand that they are violent games but there seems to be a problem over such a petty thing! Its just a game. Anyway i have looked about this game but it does not say if its coming out in europe. Will it?

I understand bullying is a terrible thing, but I don't think this game is going to simulate being a bully. It seems like it's going to be a stereptypical take on the different groups that are part of every school. To me it actually sounds quite light hearted, and certainly not in the same league as something like GTA.

I'm sure it'll get ripped to pieces by the media as it's called Bully, but unless it's actually a game where you torture other kids and make their lives hell, I don't see what the fuss is about.

What do you mean by suggesting they've gone too far - based on what evidence?
It's reactions like that, that produce responses like this:
""Finally Bully can speak for itself. People can look at the game and see what it is and what it's not," Rockstar spokesman Rodney Walker told Reuters."

What people ought to remember to give a comment like that context, is that Rockstar knows Bully. We don't. At all. How long have those 3 screens been available? Originally, players would have been in the titular role; but it looks like things have changed slightly, and tbh, I think probably for the better, from a gameplay perspective.

I'm glad that I have the game on pre-order, and I look forward to seeing what Rockstar can create, given the great opportunity that this game offers, in terms of design and gameplay possibilities. I can't wait to enrol! :D
