Nintendo may be stepping up its game with Wii U’s online functionality, but DLC for the console’s flagship launch title ZombiU seems unlikely.

Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine, multiplayer game director Bogdan Bridinel revealed that Ubisoft Montpellier “[doesn’t] have any plans” to support the game with post-release content.

“I’d say that we managed to fit in all the features that we wanted,” he said. “As usually happens on projects, a few things that we tried during production ended up on the cutting room floor, but this was because they didn’t work out as well as we had hoped, not because the schedule forced us to.”

He continued: “In regards to DLC, we don’t have any plans now, but, if the game is successful, it could become a possibility.”

ZombiU released in North America yesterday alongside Wii U. Early review scores have been mixed, with some suggesting that it’s one of the better Wii U launch titles, and others calling it “dull” and “uninteresting”.

Additional content for the game can be unlocked via Ubisoft’s in-game reward system Uplay, however. According to early adopters, a new multiplayer survival mode titled ‘The Last of Them’ becomes available by spending 40 Uplay points within the game app.

ZombiU launches in the UK alongside Wii U on November 30.
