Skylanders Battlegrounds iOS is real, costs £39.99 & could release next week
Surprise Skylanders on the way from Activision, VideoGamer.com source confirms.
Skylanders Battlegrounds, the heavily-rumoured iOS Skylanders game, is real and could release as early as next week, VideoGamer.com has learned.
Battlegrounds, which has been described by toy retailer Smyths Toys as the "premier Skylanders iOS game experience", will offer up an all-new adventure set in the Skylanders universe and let players import their existing Skylanders characters into the game via a wireless Portal of Power.
The game will be sold via a special 'Skylanders Battlegrounds Mobile Starter Pack', which includes the Bluetooth-operated Portal of Power, three Skylanders iOS apps (Cloud Patrol, Lost Islands Kingdom and Battlegrounds), an iOS-exclusive Platinum Treasure Chest used to unlock digital items, and three Skylanders figures: Cynder, Jet-Vac and a special edition Royal Double Trouble.
The pack will cost £39.99.
The information was verified by an industry source who wished to remain anonymous, who further suggested that the game could release as early as next Friday, October 19.
According to our source, Skylanders Battlegrounds has been developed exclusively for iOS and will not see an Android release.
Skylanders Battlegrounds has yet to be officially announced by Activision. Skylanders Giants, the sequel to last year's Spyro's Adventure, launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, DS and 3DS next Friday, October 19.
Activision chose not to comment when contacted by VideoGamer.com.

I think a lot of youngsters will enjoy this game by the looks of it, so what's got to be said to make that sad? The only sad thing is that this somehow makes you sad for no real reason!

Because this is Activision. Franchise milking, bubble fad inducing, EXTRA expensive iOS game, potential precedences set... None of which are a good thing.

Second thought: I can see this selling very well, in all honesty...
Sadly.
