A Rayman Legends online challenge mode will be released exclusively for Wii U in April via the eShop, Rayman creator Michel Ancel and senior game designer Michael Micholic have announced.

A video posted on the Rayman Facebook page spilled the beans.

"We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends," said Micholic. "It definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset by the delay."

"We know you guys just want to play the game as soon as possible," Micholic said.

This downloadable bonus is a "full online challenge mode exclusively to Wii U fans".

Early information on challenge mode revealed it will feature weekly and daily multiplayer challenges, each offering leaderboards, and support for up to five players.

Regarding the delayed September launch, Ancel said that the extra time will enable the creation of new characters, bosses and possibly new levels.

Ubisoft has lost a lot of respect from a lot of people, and short of releasing the game as intend won't change that for some people.

EDIT: I will still download this though, and I'll probably buy this game new at some point anyway, though. It not the devs fault, and whilst I still think it was a horrible idea for them to delay this game so severely. I'm not going to spite myself of a potentially great game due to anger forever....
