UPDATE: 505 Games has issued an apology for Ashes Cricket 2013's delay and explained that it "should have been more transparent and honest" with fans after discovering that the game "was not going to hit its submission dates".
ORIGINAL STORY: Ashes Cricket 2013 has been pushed back to July.
The cricket sim, which had been due to release on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U this Friday, now won't launch until next month "in order to offer cricket fans the best possible gaming experience".
Explaining the reasons for the game's delay, 505 Games' SVP of global brand & marketing Tim Woodley said that the publisher had "made a commitment to creating a cricket game designed for cricket fans.
"Developer Trickstar Games has taken the time to overhaul and rebuild the game engine to offer brand new features in batting, bowling and fielding," he said. "By pushing back our release date, this gives us the opportunity to deliver a quality cricket title."
Beyond a handful of screenshots, little has been seen of Ashes Cricket 2013 following its announcement last September.
The game is said to feature a new engine allowing for 360 degree shot control, weather and pitch deterioration.
