Has surpassed Super Mario. Bros.
Wii Sports has surpassed Super Mario Bros. as the biggest selling game of all time.
According to VG Chartz, Nintendo's motion-sensing title has sold 40.52 million copies around the world. NES platforming classic Super Mario Bros. has, according to VG Chartz, sold 40.24.
The success of Wii Sports is unsurprising when you consider that the game is included with every piece of Wii hardware sold around the world except for Japan, where it is sold separately.
Although Nintendo was unable to confirm VG Chartz's Wii Sports sales figure when contacted by VideoGamer.com this morning, a representative did say an accurate number can be worked out by combining the Japan sales of the game with the remaining worldwide hardware sales for Wii, minus the Japanese number.
According to official figures from Nintendo, the Wii sold 34.55 million units worldwide as of September 30 2008. Given the busy Christmas period, we reckon VG Chartz' number for Wii Sports sales sounds about right.

Nintendo: "34.55 million Wiis sold"
Mathematics: "There are 5.97 million more copies of Wii Sports out there than there are Wiis".

The figures from Nintendo are up to Sep 30 2008 and don't include Christmas sales, which will have been mega.

Then I'm going to make a videogame and ask Nintendo to bundle it with the Wii.
