While it was Nintendo who cleaned up in the US November hardware chart, it was Microsoft who claimed victory in the software chart.

According to the NPD Group, Gears of War 2 sold 1.56 million units in November and was closely followed by Activision's Call of Duty: World at War on Xbox 360 which shifted 1.41 million units.

NPD analyst Anita Frazier commented: "Gears of War II certainly didn't disappoint, achieving a 13 per cent attach rate to the Xbox 360 install base. These are the types of platform exclusive games that are so important to the continued strength of any given platform."

Coming in at No.3 was Wii Play (796,000 units), followed by Wii Fit (697,000 units) and Mario Kart Wii (637,000 units). Activision's Call of Duty: World at War on PS3 charts at No.6 (597,000 units), Guitar Hero: World Tour on Wii is at No.7 (457,000 units) and Valve's Left 4 Dead on Xbox 360 is new at No.8. Nintendo's Wii Music manages to sneak inside the Top 10 with 297,000 units sold.

Frazier added: "We would be remiss not to point out the strength of PC game sales this month as lead by the release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion pack. Wrath of the Lich King sold over 1.4 million units in the US during its debut month at retail."

November saw a number of high profile sequels hit stores. While Gears of War 2 rocketed to 1.56 million units, PS3 exclusive FPS Resistance 2 shifted 385,000 units during November.

Granted the PS3 currently has around half the 360's installed base in the US, but even taking that into account is 385,000 units good enough for what has been billed as a triple A PS3 exclusive? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

In a word NO its not a good enough attach rate! Without the game sales the PS3 will never get a price cut!
