New Wii Mario this year

Japanese newspaper also confirms Wii Fit Plus.

According to Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Nintendo will release a new Mario game and Wii Fit Plus for Wii later this year in Japan.

Wii Fit Plus is said to feature new internet connectivity, allowing users to compete with friends in weight loss/fitness battles. The new version will also more accurately measure weight and the user's centre of gravity - there's no mention of a new version of the Balance Board being required.

The article doesn't offer any detail on the new Mario game, but does note that Nintendo will use the title to help drive sales of the Wii in Japan.
